Julian of Norwich was an English mystic and anchoress of the Middle Ages. She was hailed as being the first woman to ever write a book in English- Revelations of Divine Love. She wrote of visions of Christ and other messages from God that she'd received while suffering from an illness that nearly killed her, and upon her recovery she went on to live in permanent seclusion in a cell attached to St. Julian's Church in Norwich.
